DOING GOOD THROUGH SPORTS TO HELP THE HOMELESS
Please join us for the 58th Annual Sports Banquet on Tuesday, October 23, hosted by the
San Diego Hall of Champions and Lucky Duck Foundation.
The Sports Banquet, a staple Hall of Champions event, is an annual celebration of San
Diego's sports, business and civic leaders who gather to do good through sports. This
year we are partnering with the Lucky Duck Foundation to recognize County Supervisor
Ron Roberts as San Diego's Sportsperson of the Year.
Proceeds from the event will support the Hall's mission to celebrate and support local
athletic achievement and youth development through sports and the Lucky Duck
Foundation's mission to immediately alleviate the suffering of the homeless across San
Few San Diegans have contributed more to each of these efforts than
Supervisor Roberts. He understands the benefits that sports provide the youth and the
entire community, and he has been an ardent supporter of San Diego’s sports
organizations. In addition, during his time as County Supervisor, he has made significant
contributions in the ongoing effort to help San Diego's homeless population.
The Lucky Duck Foundation (LDF) will be the event's "philanthropic beneficiary,"
meaning 100% of donations made above and beyond the cost of a ticket will go to
LDF. Since 2005, LDF has donated more than $7 million to charitable causes, and in the
last two years LDF raised $2.5 million to purchase bridge housing shelters for
approximately 700 people.
We hope you will join the Hall of Champions and Lucky Duck Foundation at the 58th
Sports Banquet, and we encourage you to donate to LDF in honor of Supervisor
