Sports at Lunch, Eric Musselman, USD basketball coaches and NBA rookie Jared Dudley

Former NBA head coach and USD alumnus Eric Musselman spoke at Sports at Lunch on June 11 and was joined by USD men's coach Bill Grier and USD women's coach Cindy Fisher at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. Charlotte Bobcats rookie Jared Dudley of Horizon High will make a special appearance. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-members.

The Hall of Champions and University of San Diego celebrated the 2007-08 men's and women's basketball seasons with Sports at Lunch on Wednesday, June 11 at the HOC in Balboa Park.

USD alumnus Eric Musselman, an NBA head coach with the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, spoke with USD men's coach Bill Grier and USD women's coach Cindy Fisher.

Andy Masur, the USD play-by-play man and Padres radio broadcaster, served as moderator for the event.

As a special feature, Jared Dudley, a Horizon High alumnus with the Charlotte Bobcats, spoke about his NBA rookie season.

Dudley was honored as a 2007 Amateur Star of the Year by the Hall of Champions for his senior season at Boston College when he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year. But because Dudley was playing his season with the Bobcats, he was unable to receive his award at the 62nd annual Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on March 4 at the Town and Country Hotel.

Dudley was presented with his award at lunch and spoke about his rookie season as the Bobcats' first-round draft pick.

Musselman is among the USD fraternity of NBA head coaches along with Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown and former Charlotte head coach Bernie Bickerstaff, who is still with the franchise's front office.

Musselman played on the Toreros' 1986-87 team that won the West Coast Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He will talk about USD basketball then and now and the NBA playoffs.

Grier and Fisher will talk about their WCC Tournament championships and trips to the WCC Tournament and what they see in the future for USD basketball.

In addition, the Hall of Champions will unveil a new display featuring USD basketball. USD guard Brandon Johnson, the WCC men's tournament MVP, and USD point guard Amanda Rego, the WCC women's tournament MVP, will donate jerseys from their season to the HOC.

There will be a question-and-answer period that follows lunch and the talk by the coaches.

Musselman's trip to San Diego will include appearing as the keynote speaker at the second annual Prep Athletes Awards Gala on Tuesday, June 10 at the Town and Country Resort.
