Dan Fouts

Inducted in 1989. Dan Fouts symbolized the San Diego Chargers’ lightning bolt insignia for 15 seasons. All-Pacific Coast at Oregon, and tutored by Johnny Unitas as a rookie in 1973, his short drop and rapid reads made him the perfect pilot for the NFL’s highest flying offense under coach Don Coryell.

Fiery and fearless, Fouts held seven NFL and 42 club records when he retired after the 1987 season and was then the number two passer in NFL history with 3,297 completions for 43,040 yards.

A six time Pro Bowl selection and NFL Player of the Year in 1979, he led “Air Coryell” to four playoff appearances (1979-1982) and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.
