Inducted in 1953. Harold “Brick” Muller, star end at the University of California in 1920-1922, was the first player in the West to make All-American in 1921,1922.
Big, fast, rugged and fiery, he was one of seven San Diego High School graduates to play on Cal’s undefeated, untied 1920 “Wonder Team”, which outscored nine opponents, 510-14, including a 28-0 thrashing of Ohio State in the 1921 Rose Bowl game that established West Coast football.
Muller could throw the ball as well as catch it. In the 1921 Rose Bowl, he competed a touchdown pass to Brodie Stephens that went at least 53 yards in the air.
After playing pro football, Muller became an outstanding orthopedic surgeon.
