Hall of Champions President Mike McDowell issues statement on passing of Tony Gwynn
“Some people personify the qualities of champion in every aspect of their life. That was Tony Gwynn. We mourn his loss, while remembering his incomparable talent, upbeat attitude and contagious laugh. To everyone at the Hall of Champions he was a friend and hero. In 2002, just 5 months after his official retirement, Tony was unanimously inducted into our Breitbard Hall of Fame. It is there that Tony will be forever honored as a true and enduring champion in the San Diego Hall of Champions.”
