Inducted in 1980. Dr. Bud Meuhleisen won 69 National and International Racquetball Championships and is acknowledged within the sport as the “Father of Racquetball”.
Although the native San Diegan and long time local dentist did not invent the game, he did write the rules, and he and his friends were tireless in promoting the game.
He won the first National Racquetball Championship at the age of 37 in St. Louis in 1969 and continued to win open competitions until shifting to age group competitions when he turned 40.
“Dr. Bud” was fittingly the first player elected to the Racquetball Hall of Fame.
