WELCOME HOME VICTORY CELEBRATION FOR MEB
Walk with Meb this Saturday at Balboa Stadium
A Welcome Home Victory Celebration for San Diego’s own Olympic silver medalist and this year’s Boston Marathon winner, Meb Keflezighi, is happening this weekend – and you can be part of it! Put on your running or walking shoes and “Walk With Meb.” It’s happening this Saturday morning (May 10) at San Diego High School’s Balboa Stadium and track. This location is very significant to Meb’s running career. He started running while attending Roosevelt Middle School, then went on win the 1600 and 3200 meter in the 1994 CIF California State Championships for San Diego High School. Come out and welcome Meb at 9:30am, walk the track with him at 10:15, then at 11am, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Councilman David Alvarez will recognize Meb as “America’s Finest Runner.”
